I had been hearing a lot lately about That One Spot, the flippantly named burger flipper in Ocoee, and just about all of it good. So when I found myself in the neighborhood, I stopped by to give it a try. Frankly, I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Except for receiving a burger that was cooked precisely to my preferred temperature, a beautiful medium rare, there was nothing else about the experience that would make me return.

I had the version named That One Burger, figuring it would be the house specialty since it was similarly named. It had a fairly thin patty for this category of burgeries, which would include Burger 21 and BurgerFi, and it was nestled into a bun that was beyond stale. The slice of cheese on top failed to melt.

I also had a side of fries, which had virtually no seasoning and no flavor. They were just little sticks of bland.

The small space has a distinctive grunge appeal, which I liked. The dining area is dominated by a large airbrushed, graffiti-like mural. The restaurant was staffed by a group of young people who didn’t see the need to pay less attention to each other and more the to guests. There was a lot of joking around with each other, which made me feel as though I’d wandered in on a high school party. One notable exception was the young man who saw me approaching the front door and made an effort to open it for me. I wish that level of service had continued throughout my visit.

That One Spot is at 10968 W. Colonial Drive (at Maguire Road), Ocoee. It is open for lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant does not appear to have a website, and its Facebook page does not have a menu link that works. My burger was $6.99, the fries were a ridiculous $1.99.
