Shula Burger Coming to SoDo?

Written By Scott Joseph On July 9, 2013

Twist Asian Fusion Hibachi & Bar has closed in SoDo, the South of Downtown complex also known as the Super Target shopping center. Word is that a Shula Burger, another franchise from the Ft. Lauderdale based Shula’s Steak House organization, will take its place. Another Shula Burger is set to open soon in Kissimmee in the Rolling Oaks Plaza, 8124 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. Five other locations currently exist, all in Florida.

Shula Burger burgers are made with a blend of black angus beef, short ribs and brisket.

Locally, the company, named after famed Dolphin’s coach Don Shula, is represented by the high-end Shula’s Steak House at the Dolphin hotel (of course) at Walt Disney World, and Shula’s 347 Grill, so named for the number of career wins for the coach, an upscale sports bar in Lake Mary. Other brands include Shula’s 2 Steak and Shula’s Bar and Grill.

Twist made an attempt at being an ambitious restaurant, but it lacked focus (as though the “Asian Fusion Hibachi and Bar” wasn’t a clue).

A call to Shula’s to confirm the Shula Burger franchise would move into the Twist space was not immediately returned.

Here’s a link to the Shula Burger website.
