Del Who? Christner’s Prime Steak & Lobster Makes Name Change Official

Christner portraitDavid, Carole and Alice Christner in front of Russ Christner’s familiar outfit at the Celebration of C gathering Sunday to commemorate the restaurant’s name change.

Allow me to introduce you to Orlando’s newest restaurant. You know, the one that’s been around for the past 20 years.

On June 2, Christner’s officially dropped Del Frisco’s from its name and hereafter will be known as Christner’s Prime Steak & Lobster. Nothing else has changed. It still has the same owners, still the same skilled, professional staff, and still the same high-quality oh-my-God wonderful steaks.

So why the name change?

Because the agreement between Russ Christner and Dale Wamstad, the original owner of Del Frisco’s, had come to an end. But what does that mean for one of the area’s most highly regarded restaurants?

I’ll explain it all here, plus show you some photos from the big Celebration of C party.

This restaurant is a fine legacy for founder Russ Christner. In my book, it has always been Christner’s Prime Steak & Lobster. Now it’s just official.

chez vincent logo imageI have two new terrific SJO Dining Deals for you at the wonderful Chez Vincent and the elegant restaurant lounge Hannibal’s on the Square. They’re great chances to try these restaurants if you’ve never been or an excuse to go back. And here’s an even better reason: a portion of the sales go to support the Edible Schoolyard Project at Orlando Junior Academy as part of the SJO Dining Deals GiveBack Program.

By the way, Chez Vincent and Hannibal’s now serve Sunday brunch. Here’s my recent review.

Supper Club at Wine on the Way will feature Fork in the Road food truck and the wines of Vibrant Rioja

Wine on the Way-1Our next Scott Joseph’s Supper Club isn’t a conventional Supper Club. Let’s call it a Sipper Club. Vibrant Rioja has seven wines (I’m betting they’ll bring more), and the food is coming from the folks at Fork in the Road food truck. We’ll be taking over the warehouse of Wine on the Way in Winter Park. It’s going to be a casual evening of strolling, sitting, sipping, noshing and enjoying some really great wines.

 Event details:

  • Saturday, June 22, 2013
  • 6-9 p.m.
  • Wine on the Way, Winter Park Business Center, 805 S. Orlando Ave., Suite A, Winter Park
