I’m still in New York, and I know that I promised to post about yesterday’s event celebrating the arrival of the beaujolais nouveau, but I have other French news that is of some importance.
Louis Perrotte, owner of Le Coq Au Vin, one of the area’s consistently high rated restaurants, has announced a partnership with Reimund Pitz. Consider this a first step in the transition of ownership of the longtime favorite restaurant.
In an e-mail note, Perrotte told me that he has known Pitz and his wife, Sally, for 28 years, and has a great deal of respect for him as a cook and a colleague. Pitz held executive positions at Walt Disney World and lately has been with Orlando Country Club.
Perrotte said he and his wife will not make a clean break from the kitchen but will certainly start taking more time off and letting the Pitz’s gradually take over.
I’ll have more on this as it becomes available.
