iMansion to take over former Beacon space

Written By Scott Joseph On August 21, 2009

It didn’t take long for the owners of the space recently vacated by Beacon to find a replacement. And a replacement for the replacement.

A couple of weeks ago, you’ll recall, I told you that Manny Tato had backed out of a tentative agreement to take over all three restaurant space, including Beacon, Sanctuary Diner and Graze.

Now, a new player is getting ready to open iMansion. Wayne Maingot (pronounced Mango) told me he thought the place looked like a mansion when he saw it, and it’s his concept to have the staff dresses as though they worked in a fancy manse. Unfortunately, the name Mansion wasn’t available, so in a trend of the day, he added a small i to the word.

The menu will be primarily soups, salads and desserts with one entree item. The place will try to attract the business lunch crowd at lunch; Sunday brunch will also be offered.

Maingot said he plans to open around Labor Day. He will not do much to change the interior, but he said he wants to replace the patio tables and chairs with all-white furniture.

I’ll have more details as the restaurant gets closer to opening.
