Update: Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer reversed his decision to ban on-premise alcohol sales at restaurants. Guidelines now follow those set out by Gov. DeSantis.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Tuesday ordered all bars and nightclubs in the state to be closed beginning at 5 p.m. for at least 30 days.

However, he allowed restaurants to remain open as long as they operate at no more than 50 percent capacity so as to allow appropriate distances between patrons. Mayor Buddy Dyer announced that all sales of alcohol for on-premises consumption be halted at restaurants that remain open. Restaurants are being encouraged to move to an exclusively delivery or takeout model.

Some restaurants, such as Chatham’s Place, have decided to shut down voluntarily. Walt Disney World closed all of its company owned and operated restaurants at Disney Springs Monday night and other third-party restaurants followed suit. Disney has announced it will close its hotels at the end of the week, which will also shutter a large number of restaurants located in those properties.
