Well-known chef Kevin Fonzo has been hospitalized with what doctors are calling a “brain bleed.” The former owner of K Restaurant was working at the Emeril Lagasse Kitchen House in College Park Thursday when he experienced a severe headache and blurry vision, according to his friend and fellow chef Jamie McFadden. A friend who was with him in the kitchen called 911 and Fonzo was taken to Florida Hospital by ambulance.
Friday morning, doctors were performing an angiogram to determine if there is an aneurysm.
McFadden said that Fonzo is alert and talking but still having a lot of pain. He is in the intensive care unit and currently unable to have visitors. Doctors have told him that he may be hospitalized for 10 days to three weeks depending on what they are able to discover from the tests. Doctors have told him that the prognosis for full recovery is excellent.
I’ll pass along updates as I learn new information.
