Citing obstacles created by the ongoing pandemic, the Corner Cafe, a popular Sanford eatery, has temporarily moved to a catering-only model, according to chef and owner Michael O’Brien Sr.

A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page thanked “Everyone who has been there for us over the course of the last 2 years during this COVID Catastrophe!” It went on: “With Reduced Capacity, then Delivery Only, then Supply Chain & Labor Pool Issues it has been a Heavy Lift.”
In a private message, O’Brien told me, “We’re going to wait until suppliers and employees return to reliable before we squander any more time or treasure!!”
He added, “It’s a risky move, but one we feel is necessary.”
The space isn’t closed entirely – it is available for private dinners and functions, with catering provided under the business’s Gourmet2Go umbrella.
