WalletHub, an online personal finance company that also complies data-driven “best” lists and awards, has announced the 2023 Best Foodie Cities in America, and the city at the top of the list is…

Hang on, this can’t be right. Let me check something [papers shuffling, mouse clicking; bangs the side of the monitor].

Yep, that’s what it says: Orlando is the number one food city in in the whole United States of America. It ranked just ahead of Portland, Oregon, and far above New York City at number 20.

To compile the rankings, WalletHub, which is based in Miami (no. 4), analyzed the data of 28 metrics – such as affordability, accessibility, restaurant diversity, Michelin stars – across 180 of the country’s largest cities.

According to WalletHub, Orlando came out on top because of the diversity and quality of its restaurants, and also because it has – oh boy, here it comes – “the most ice cream and frozen yogurt shops.” New motto: Orlando, the City Yogurtful.

But hey, it’s always nice to be recognized. And to come out ahead of such places as San Francisco (5), Las Vegas (8), Chicago (14) and New Orleans (42).

Suck it, NOLA. Maybe try extruding some soft serve on your precious beignets next time.

You can see the full list of rankings on WalletHub’s website.
