Looking for someplace special for Valentine’s Day this year? And by special, I mean a restaurant that is offering some sort of deal. Yes, you want to convey your love for your sweetie, but in these times what says “I Love You” more than “I didn’t want to drop a bundle on some hokie dinner for a made-up holiday because I’m saving for our future together.” Aw, that’s sweet.
I’ve been hearing from restaurants with something special for Valentine’s Day, which is coming up Saturday, folks. For some reason it’s being held on Feb. 14th this year. Here are some places to consider; I’ll add more as they come in.
Red Wing, 12500 State Road 33, Groveland, is offering a special menu for the day with appetizers of baked oysters (you know, oysters, aphrodisiacs) and entrees of herb-crusted rack of lamb or grilled swordifsh with basil butter. 352-429-2997.
Funky Monkey Wine Company, 912 N. Mills Ave., Orlando, has a multi-course prix fixe menu for $65 per person. Seatings are from 5 p.m. until midnight. 407-427-1447.
Paddy Murphy’s, 4982 Broad St., Orlando, has a V-Day menu in addition to the regular menu. I’ll let Thomas Murphy tell you in his own words: “This Saturday Paddy’s will be featuring a special Valentine’s Day menu for 2 in addition to our regular dinner menu. We will be offering a Hazelnut encrusted rack of Lamb served with roasted red potatoes and asparagus. There will also be the Murphy’s Duo which will be your choice of two of the following offerings, Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shepard’s Pie, Bangers & Mash, and Fish & Chips. Each of these selections will be accompanied by a starter salad, appetizer, entree, dessert, and glass of champagne. There will also be live music brought to you by Knockout Mouse starting at 9:00 pm. For reservations please call Paddy Murphy’s at (407) 622-4700.”
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, 1 Grand Cypress Blvd, Orlando, is offering That’s Amour, a sleep-over package that includes one night in deluxe room accommodations; champagne, berries and chocolate, plus a rose (drink champagne, eat berries and chocolate, do whatever you want with the rose); and breakfast for two at Cascades. Hmmm, to stay at the Grand Cypress and not do La Coquina’s Sunday brunch would really tell your sweetie how cheap you are. So show her the $288 receipt for the night’s stay and settle in at Cascades. 407-239-1234.
