Written By Scott Joseph On August 21, 2023

The Hangry Bison, the beef and bourbon restaurant in Winter Park and Winter Garden, has been voted Best Burger in our 2023 Foodster Awards for Independent Restaurants. It is a previous winner of the award, as is the Tap Room at Dubsdread, which earned the second highest number of votes.

The Whiskey and Johnny’s Fillin’ Station tied for third place.

Some of the comments from Hangry Bison’s voters included:

“The meat:bun:accompaniments ratio is perfection at its best. Even from first to last bite. Hangry Bison burgers are just the best. Yummm.”

“I have never tasted such a lovely burger in my life.”

“I’ve come here for a burger for years. Best burger in town!”

“Great thick burger.”

“Juicy and nicely seasoned patty.”

“Best burger I’ve ever had and great ambiance.”

“The owner makes you feel like family.”

(In response to the query “Why did you vote for this restaurant”) “Beer, bourbon and burgers that’s why.”

“Amazing meat quality, lots of garnish flavor options.”

“Bangin burger!”

Oddly enough, “Bangin” was also a response from a Tap Room at Dubsdread voter. Other quotes included:

“Above par.”

“Best burger ever.”

“Best burger – consistently thru the years.”

“Their burgers are delicious and unique and they never disappoint!”

“They have the best burgers in the world!”

“Nothing better than a Tap Room juicy HALF pound Burger.”

A fan of The Whiskey wrote “Always cooked right, great bun!” And a Johnny’s voter said, “Like the size because cooked medium on a flat grill is as rare as I will go and they use a high fat ground beef that is loaded with flavor.
