Sunday’s your last chance to get out and see, smell — and taste — this year’s Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. This was the second year that the fest has added a food element, and by next year I’ll expect it to rival the offerings of the International Food and Wine Festival.
Besides the topiaries in the shapes of Disney characters and colorful flowers everywhere you look, there are kiosks, or outdoor kitchens as they’re called here, all around the World Showcase, just like at Food & Wine. But all the food offerings have a fresh-from-the-garden element. You’ll find some delicious pickled beets from the Urban Farm Eats kitchen and strawberries with a sugary shell casing at the China kitchen.
A new item this year is the turkey rib, which plays off the popularity of the turkey leg that’s been around. No, turkeys don’t really have ribs to speak of. What this thing is is a section of the wing that when separated looks like a barbecued rib but with fowl instead of pig. That’s found at the America pavilion, of course.
There are lots of good things to eat, and even more to see and experience. (Don’t miss the butterfly exhibit.)
