The former Portobello Country Italian Trattoria, which was the former Portobello Yacht Club, will be the future Terralina Crafted Italian. Terralina is also the name of a line of skincare products, but I don’t think there’s a connection.

As with Portobello, which is closed and undergoing renovations, the menu will be designed by Tony Mantuano, Chicago-based James Beard Award-winning chef. Justin Plank, who had only recently joined the Levy Restaurants owned operation, will stay on as the executive chef for Terralina (the restaurant, not the facial cream).

Some of Portobello’s menu items will make the transfer, too, but you’ll find new items such as hand-crafted pizzas made in a wood-burning oven. Mussels and pork chops have been promised, too, according to a press release, so that should generate a lot of interest.

No word yet on Terralina’s backstory, the legend that ties it into the history of Disney Springs. I’m thinking it might be something along the lines of the owner’s ancestors came to the Springs from their native Italy and made a bundle on exfoliants to people who came to the Springs for its rejuvenating properties and decided to open a restaurant. I’m hoping it will explain why a newly renovated restaurant has so many cracks in the walls, as seen in the artist rendering, above.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Terralina is expecte to open in the fall.
