Kudos to our friends at Tap Room at Dubsdread for being named one of the country’s top 100 al fresco dining restaurants by OpenTable.
Tap Room was the only Central Florida restaurant to make the list. About a dozen others from Florida are on the list — with a preponderance of restaurants from Naples — mostly from South Florida and with “Waterfront” or “on the Bay” as part of their names.
Tap Room, of course, is the rustic, open-to-the-public restaurant at the city-owned Dubsdread Golf Course with a comfortable clubhouse feel. One of its main features is its wraparound porch offering beautiful views of the verdant course. Usually soft music plays in the background, just loud enough to drown out the swearing of the duffers.
The 100 Best Al Fresco Dining Restaurants in America list is derived from over 5 million reviews submitted between May 1, 2015, and April 30, 2016, by diners who use the OpenTable reservation system. A minimum “overall” score and a minimum number of qualifying reviews were criteria for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which “great for outdoor dining” was selected as a special feature.
