Soco celebrates 9 years with September “throwbacks’ menu

Written By Scott Joseph On September 6, 2023

Soco Thornton Park is celebrating its ninth anniversary with a special “throwbacks” menu featuring diner favorites over the past not-quite-decade. “This is a limited time promotion,” said chef/partner Greg Richie, “which will last through the month of September.”

It’s a three-course prix fixe menu for $45 with an optional $20 wine pairing.

Some of the highlights include the Boiled Peanut Hummus appetizer, one of the dishes I thought best embodied the restaurant’s Southern contemporary concept when it first opened, and Cornmeal Crisped Oysters.

Among the entrees are Richie’s Three Meat Blend Grilled Meatloaf, with asparagus and onion rings and served on mashed potatoes. (Originally they were lobster mashed potatoes, and you can upgrade yours for $12). There’s also the Creole Spiced Shrimp and Grits with cornmeal crisped okra, and Chicken Fried Cauliflower Steak, one of the better vegetarian entrees I’ve had.

See the full menu and available pairings below.

Always best to make reservations. Soco is at 629 E. Central Blvd., Orlando. It’s open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Also open for weekend brunch. The phone number is 407-849-1800.
