Heart of Florida United Way CEO Bob Brown, left, with Rocco Potami, chef and owner of Rocco’s Italian Grille and Bar in Winter Park.
Rocco’s Italian Grille & Bar is celebrating its seventh anniversary by helping to raise money for Heart of Florida United Way. Chef/owner Rocco Potami announced that in honor of the seventh anniversary, 7 percent of all the restaurant’s sales during October would be donated to the charity.
“We feel very fortunate to have been a successful restaurant in Winter Park for the past seven years and wanted to do something to not only celebrate our anniversary, but to also provide some assistance for our community,” said Potami. “I really admire all that Heart of Florida United Way does for its partner agencies in the community and we are humbled to be part of this effort.”
Twenty-five percent of HFUW’s funds target hunger and homelessness, according to the organization’s president and CEO, Robert H. Brown. “Hunger is one of the key areas where we focus our efforts so we are delighted to be working with Rocco’s as part of this fundraising effort,” said Brown.
Several new dishes were added in honor of the anniversary celebration, including a half-dozen new pastas as well as chicken and veal entrees, many in the $15 to $17 range. Examples are Penne al Buon Gustaio (penne tossed with Italian sausage, red bell peppers and cherry tomatoes; $15.25) and Petto di Pollo Alla Caprese (pan-seared chicken breast, topped with fresh tomatoes and smoked mozzarella in a white wine and demiglace sauce; $17.25). I’ve sampled several of the dishes, and they’re all pretty wonderful.
Guests don’t have to do anything besides dine at Rocco’s during October in order for the donation to me made.
Rocco’s is at 400 S. Orlando Ave., Winter Park. The phone number is 407-644-7770.
