In observance of Veteran’s Day, several area restaurants are offering free or discounted meals to say thank you for your service. Most of the deals are available to veteran’s and active duty service members with proof of service identification: U.S. Uniformed Services ID Card; U.S. Uniformed Services Retired ID Card; current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES); veterans organization card (American Legion, VFW). I’m not saying these are the finest dining establishments in town, but in most cases they’re better than your average mess hall.

Applebee’s: complimentary entree from the Thank You Meal list.

Krispy Kreme: free donut and small coffee.

Olive Garden: free meal from special menu.

TGI Fridays: free lunch until 2 p.m.

O’Charley’s: free meal from special menu.

Hooters: free meal up to $10.99 value with drink purchase.

Chili’s: free meal from special menu.

California Pizza Kitchen: free pizza for dine-in service.

Golden Corral: free buffet and beverage.

Bar Louie: free meal up to $12 value.

Sizzler: free lunch from select menu until 4 p.m.
