Royal Southern Kitchen has taken over the space that was Moghul Indian Cuisine. But it hasn’t really changed much – it’s still Indian, despite the Southern in the name. It’s meant to be regional Indian. Oddly, though, the online description for the restaurant says that it is a “Northern Indian eatery.” Whatever. We’ll just refer to it by its initials, RSK.
I made a quick visit to the restaurant to meet a friend for lunch and we both chose the buffet. Nothing stood out as stellar, but neither was anything unacceptable.
I preferred the butter chicken to the curry chicken because the latter was too mild. The aloo chana was good, too, but I liked the plain basmati rice over the egg biryani.
Cups were provided for a dal soup but the only spoons were the tiny ones meant for the jackfruit dessert.
It was nice that our server, a very gracious man, brought us a big basket of naan.
The decor is fine as long as you don’t look up; we were sitting under exposed ac ducts that looked as though they needed attending.
