Park Avenue gets a new restaurant

Written By Scott Joseph On September 2, 2009

Trattoria Toscano has opened on Winter Park’s Park Avenue. It occupies a small space across the street from Cafe de France on the lower end of the trendy boulevard. It’s owned by Armando Martorelli, who has been around for many years and involved in a number of projects, including, at one time,  Bravissimo, Babbo (where Nonna is now) and Aroma, the coffee bar and cafe in Thornton Park.

By the way, Dominique Gutierrez, owner of Cafe de France, says she is thrilled to have the new restaurant in the neighborhood. That’s a healthy attitude — and a smart one. Restaurants tend to thrive off of one another.

Park Avenue is becoming quite the little International Drive. This Italian restaurant joins Gutierrez’s French cafe, Sakura sushi bar, Bosphorous Turkish restaurant, Orchid Thai, Latin Bistro Cuban and myriad American eateries.
And just as it was a couple of decades ago, Park Avenue is once again becoming one of the area’s premier dining destinations, with such luminary restaurants as Luma on Park and Park Plaza Gardens among the others mentioned above. Lots of good eats on the Avenue.

Trattoria Toscano is at 521 Park Ave. S. The phone number is 407-644-0009.
