Anticipation is bubbling over among sparkling wine fans for the opening of Flutes, a Champagne bar coming to Winter Park Village. Alexie Fonseca Arqueros, one of the partners in the venture, posted a photo on her Facebook page dated Aug. 1 that still shows lots of interior work is needed, so I wouldn’t start popping the corks just yet. Maybe by New Year’s Eve?
Rise, subtitled Southern Biscuits, Righteous Chicken, has risen in Winter Park’s Lakeside Crossing. The chain, out of Durham, has almost 20 locations and boasts on its website that it is “waitstaff-free.” Besides biscuits and righteous chicken, donuts of indeterminate demeanor are also on the menu. (No, I can’t tell you what makes a chicken righteous.)
Your wait is almost over if you’ve been sweating it out for Dave’s Hot Chicken to open in Lake Mary. It will open its doors on Friday and the feathers will start flyin’. It’s the third local location for the fiery fowl franchise that started as a stand in an East Hollywood parking lot.
From now through Sept. 15, the Edison at Disney Springs is partnering with Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando to offer a selection of special craft cocktails and bites (hopefully not the doggie kind) with a portion of the proceeds going to the organization. Cocktail selections will include a Meow-jito and Salty Chihuahua. Add a Righteous Rottweiler and I’m in.
