The culinary team at the JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek are hosting a “Dining with the Stars” event on Thursday, Aug. 22, at the resort’s signature restaurant Sear + Sea. It will feature a seven course dinner prepared by S+S’s new chef, Jobin Thomas, and Gerald Sombright, who was the opening chef at Knife & Spoon. See below for the menu and pairings.
There are two seatings, at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Tickets to the dinner are $290 per person plus tax and gratuity, but if you call direct to 407-919-6300 to make a reservation for the Dining with the Stars dinner and tell them Scott Joseph sent you, you’ll get a 10 percent discount.
Here’s a look at the menu:

Maitland Social, a complex of businesses sharing a common corridor, has officially opened at 360 E. Horatio Ave. Wave Sushi and Pizza Bruno are among the tenants. There’s also a Foxtail Coffee Co., because of course there is. Thrive Cocktail Lounge will open later this year.
Not far from Maitland Social is a location of Chuy’s, the Tex-Mex chain. I mention that only as an excuse to say that Chuy’s has been purchased by Orlando based Darden Restaurants. Darden reportedly paid $605 million, which should get them the whole enchilada. Chuy’s was started in Austin, Tex., in 1982 and currently has 101 locations in 15 states.
The Local, a neighborhoody bar and grill in College Park, has closed. And City Barbeque has opened in Winter Park at the intersection of Semoran and University Boulevards. The city of the chain’s name is Columbus, Ohio.
