Tino’s Cuban Bistro has closed its doors after a relatively short two year lifespan. But that stretch of Curry Ford Road will not go Cubanless for long. Expect YaYa’s Cuban Cafe & Bakery to open there in the next week or two. This will be a second location for YaYa’s — it operates a Spanish bakery and deli at 632 Hewett Drive, just off of Semoran Boulevard and south of Oleander Drive, in Orlando. The Curry Ford Road location, however, will offer evening hours — the original is open only until 4 p.m. most days.
A spokesman at the Hewett Drive cafe said the new restaurant was scheduled to go through final inspections today. If everything goes well, the restaurant will have a soft opening on the 6th and 7th of August and will open later that week.
The new restaurant’s address is 3500 Curry Ford Road.
Not far from that space, at 2901 Curry Ford Road, the former Amalfi Italian Restaurant has been transformed into Lima 41, a Peruvian restaurant. No word on when it will be open, but it looks as though it is pretty close. Peruvian is something of a cuisine of the hour — another Peruvian restaurant, Ceviche House, opened a second location recently not too far away, at 1163 S. Semoran Blvd., just north of Curry Ford Road.
And up on East Colonial Drive, in a remodeled KFC building at 4501, Bamboo’s Sushi is nearing its opening. I’ll let you know when I know more.
