The dinner of the decade — that also celebrates a decade — is just about five weeks away. Do you have your tickets yet?

Norman’s, celebrity chef Norman Van Aken’s elegant fine dining restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton, is throwing itself a black tie gala to celebrate its 10th anniversary.  The dinner, on Saturday, August 24, will feature other celebrity chefs and friends of Van Akens, including Charlie Trotter, Emeril Lagasse, Dean Fearing, and Jeremiah Tower. The wines will be curated by five certified master sommeliers (or is that masters sommelier?) including Central Florida’s very own George Miliotes, John Blazon and Brian Koziol.

I’ve mentioned all that before, as well as the ticket price: $1000 per person. That includes a room at the Ritz, autographed cookbooks from each of the chefs and dancing and entertainment after the meal.

Here are some new details.

Proceeds from the evening will go to support Orlando Ballet (that after-dinner dancing just went to a new level).

Also, several local luminaries have been invited to cook alongside the celebs. They include:

  • Team Norman’s – Juan Rendon and Andres Mendoza
  • Team Luma/Prato – Brandon McGlamery, Derek Perez and Matt Cargo
  • Team Ravenous/Cask and Larder – James and Julie Petrakis
  • Team Ritz- Sean Woods and Stephane Cheramy
  • The Refinery – Greg Baker
  • Victoria & Albert’s – Scott Hunnel

The dinner will be served in the hotel’s ballroom and the after party will be in the restaurants, just the opposite of what you might think would be logical.

Some of the details of the dinner include a canape and Champagne reception, Maine lobster with Siberian caviar, oyster tartare, veal Casoncelli…oh, heck — I’ve got the whole menu for you. Click here to see Norman’s gala menu and who’s serving what.
