Heart of Florida United Way’s Chef’s Gala is May 10

Written By Scott Joseph On April 25, 2014

It brings the top culinary talent from the community and Walt Disney World into a huge, cocktail party atmosphere, and it raises money to enable the good work that United Way does in Central Florida providing food, shelter and other basic needs.

Now you’re thinking, “Epcot? That means I have to park, wait in line at the ticket turnstiles, then fight my way through the crowds and in the heat to get to the event.” No, it doesn’t. Attendees are directed to a special area of the parking lot, and you won’t be scurried onto one of those trams. Instead, you’ll board an air-conditioned bus that will take you through the backstage of Epcot, behind the country pavilions and right up to the door of World Showplace.

As you gather inside you’ll be offered sparkling wine or a martini (you can choose both if you want) while you look over the silent auction items. (I hear that this year the auction is going high-tech and you’ll be able to up your bid via an app.)

When the curtains are pulled back, make your way to the 22 or so food stations from the likes of Victoria & Albert’s, Citricos, Raglan Road, Cress, K, and Cityfish.

I attended a preview luncheon and the food is going to be terrific this year. Check out the video above that my friends at icFlorida put together for some more details.

Tickets are $275 per person or $500 per couple. You can purchase tickets at this link. Shuttles start shuttling at 6:45 p.m. and the main event begins at 7:30. Things will wrap up around 10 p.m. but buses will take you back to your car any time during the event.
