Friends of the Vine at Quantum Leap

Friends of the Vine at Quantum Leap Winery

On Thursday, Nov. 9, Quantum Leap, the Mills 50 winery, hosted a Friends of James Beard benefit in the spacious barrel room. Friends of the Vine brought together several area restaurants and chefs who prepared foods paired to Quantum Leap wines.

One of the highlights was master sommelier George Milotes using a glass wine thief to extract samples of Quantum Leap’s Napa Estate cabernet sauvignon. (Milotes wasn’t the only master somm there; Brian Koziol was also pouring – more conventionally from bottles – on the other side of the room. Also serving: Jamie McFadden (Cuisiniers Catering) serving delicious tinned fish; Lordfer Lalicon (Kaya) serving his adobo risotto; and Nikki Akins (Nikki’s Place) with smothered pork.

Attendees at the walkabout event helped to raise funds for the Beard Foundation’s programs. Click through the gallery below to see some of the sights.
