Culpepper’s Closes

Written By Scott Joseph On January 27, 2014

You can forget about the fourth quarter rally. Culpepper’s, the sports bar and restaurant named for former UCF quarterback and Miami Dolphins player Daunte Culpepper, closed its doors Saturday evening.

“The support we received from the UCF and the east Orlando community was humbling and we are proud to have been a part of so many great memories during this historic football season,” said Tony Comas, managing partner with HIG, the marketing and consulting group for Culpepper’s.

The restaurant opened in September to mostly negative reviews. As I reported earlier this month, a new management team was hired in December to try to turn things around. It all sounded kind of promising, so this move is a bit of a surprise. And then not.

The rumor is that the space will be taken over by Burger & Beer Joint, a South Florida operation.

More soon.
