Coming from 4 Rivers in Time for Christmas: A Brisket Candle

Written By Scott Joseph On October 18, 2013

Rivers candle

This might sound a little like the meat-scented cologne that Burger King was selling a few years ago, but this is an actual thing. John Rivers, owner of the 4 Rivers Smokehouse empire and the planne Coop restaurant, unveiled a new product coming out later this year. It’s a votive candle made with fat juices from his famous brisket. Yep, it even smells like it beef fat, though it’s actually kind of subtle. Rivers says the candle should retail for around $15.

Perhaps a more welcome gift to the cook on your holiday list is Rivers’ new cookbook, The Southern Cowboy Cookbook, which will come out Nov. 1. Rivers had just received a copy and proudly displayed it. The photography is gorgeous, and the recipes look like they’ll be fun to try. Watch for announcements on book signings.
