Another Thornton Park Closing?

Written By Scott Joseph On June 27, 2013

Update, 5:10 p.m.: Iza is still open to the public, according to one of the owner I just  spoke to. The phone, apparently, was mistakenly disconnected and is expected to be in operation again soon.

Update: Owners say that Iza Tabas Bar is still very much open. Still trying to find a working phone number to get details.

It looks as though you can add Iza Tapas Bar to the list of recent closings in the Thornton Park area. Within the last couple of months we’ve seen Hue, Prickly Pear and Nick’s Italian Kitchen shut down. Hue was the oldest of the lot and one of the first in the Thornton Park area just east and south of the Lake Eola. Both Nick’s and Prickly Pear were relative newcomers, having opened in late 2011.

But Iza opened earlier this year, only months ago. It’s possible the owners are taking a rest or regrouping — callers to the restaurant hear a recording that says the number has been temporarily disconnected. I haven’t seen a lot of instances where a brand new restaurant closes and reopens again.

Pity; I liked what I saw when I reviewed Iza.
