I have been to many a trade show and each year visit the Orlando Home Shows. Scott Joseph's cooking segments were the best by far. I don't recall ever getting a plate for a taste of the chef's selection. Most shows you get nary a bite of the chef's cooking. The one segment featured a wine from a booth also at the Home Show. How innovative - having the booths interact with each other. Scott mentioned the appliances the cook was using - had those sponsors been there to speak of their products that would have been good also. It's time for trade shows to spring out of the rows and booths of vendors. Scott maybe onto something here..

We moved here from NJ (where we had access to fantastic restaurants) 4 years ago and realized we would have to travel and do a lot of research to find good restaurants here. Well, we discovered your column early on and you made our search so much easier. We found most of your reviews to be right on the mark, whether good or bad. We are delighted to have found your website so we can continue learning from your experiences. The current Sentinal column just doesn't measure up to your standards.

Scott, Having planned a long weekend in Orlando park-hopping, etc., I wanted to get your educated opinion on best food in the area. My brother-in-law is Greek-Australian and well-travelled, so I consulted your reviews of Greek restaurants. To our delight, we had a marvelous dining experience @ TAVERNA OPA on I'NL. Dr. Service was excellent, lighting and music ethnically delightful, and food selections, from appetizers to entrees, ample, well-seasoned, and authentic. The belly dancer added to the experience-tasteful and decidedly comfortable with flames!Scott, you may be an irreplaceable loss to the Orlando Sentinal, but an online treasure to us all. Thanks.

Since coming to Florida 18 years ago, I have read your columns to find the out where the "good" restaurants were, including those hidden gems that we've all driven by 100's of times but never thought to stop. Your knowledge of food and how it should be prepared is what makes you Scott Joseph and it's why we all so value your opinions!

I sell seafood for a local distributor located in Lakeland. Let me tell you how happy it makes me that you in many ways educate people about how their food should taste like. You bridge the gap from the chef's concept to the average joe's palet. It should make chef's hesitate on cutting that corner or trying to do something they ultimately shouldn't.

You were easily the first column I went to, whether the Calender, like today, or the Sunday edition, or the occasional Florida magazine. I have been a foodservice salesman for 20 years and prior to that a foodservice director. I have a BS in Restaurant Management from FIU and a BA in English. So I know what I'm talking about. Thank you so much for your insight. I never once thought you had compromised your standards or had given anything less than a honest and fair shake to a dining establishment.

We have always enjoyed the humor you mix into the reviews...like a great chef mixes spices with his creations. Enough to flavor it but not overpowering

We moved here from Miami nine years ago and your column has been our guiding light in the blackness of the local restaurant scene. We have not agreed with a few of your recommendations from time to time, but mostly they have been on-the-mark according to both our taste buds and dining experiences. Kudos to you.

We were not friends but I, like so many others in this area, thought of you as a friend because of your personality that shown through your work even if your face never did. That’s the irony of your 20 years – You have been one of the best faces of the Sentinel even without anyone knowing it.

I've been reading you since 1991. The one word I would use to describe your reviews is "integrity." You have always evaluated a restaurant against what it is trying to be -- pricewise, decorwise, foodwise, pretentionwise -- and that's the way I think it should be. I've lived in 13 cities and have found your reviews to be the most credible of all

I lived for three years in Orlando while taking my medical training at ORMC from 1966 to 1969. There were but a few outstanding restaurants then, mainly in Winter Park. Since your arrival on the scene, however, there has been a proliferation of eateries that it became hard, nay impossible, to choose the good ones from the bad. You have done a tremendous job every week doing that assignment for us. Though my family and I have been living in Daytona Beach for over 38 years now, we still repair to Orlando's eating places quite often, recognizing there are few eating spots here that would equal those in the Orlando area. Our favorites, by the way, are del Frisco's, Le Coq Au Vin, and Straub's - thanks to your advisories.

I have so enjoyed your reviews over the years. My husband and I moved to Orlando in 1993, and reading your reports of restaurants here helped us get to know the area and its eateries.
